After many years I have finally found a few minutes to overhaul my website. It is now a WordPress-based website about my research profile, publications and outreach activities. I was inspired to do that after reading a Nature Jobs blog post.
I was in Erlangen, Germany, for my PhD defense this week. Here are a few pictures from right after the defense.
I have moved to The Rockefeller University in New York where I continue my work in Alipasha Vaziri’s lab.
The IMPerfectos made 2nd place at the Vienna Dragonboat Cup! Here are some impressions from the day.
I have started my postdoc in Alipasha Vaziri’s lab at the Institute for Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna. I will be working on fast volumetric calcium imaging.
The OSA Student Chapter screened the documentary “That’s the story”. It features an interview with the nobel laureate Prof. Roy J. Glauber, who is the last living scientist from the theory division of the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. I led the subsequent panel discussion with José Ignacio Latorre from […]
I gave talk about our latest results to achieve Angstrom-scale resolution in resolving fluorophores attached to proteins using our low-temperature super-resolution microscope at the Single Molecule Localization Microscope Symposium in Bordeaux, France.
I made a presentation for high school students today about super-resolution microscopy. It was a school outreach activity of our OSA Student Chapter. Here are some pictures.
The OSA Student Chapter was part of the Blue Night in Nuernberg this year. We displayed optics experiments to the public and gave short presentations about topics like Plasmonics. We also made an installation where we dyed the water of a fountain with fluorescein and illuminated it with UV light. […]
We were watching the solar eclipse together with the lab. Here are some pictures of me holding an old Schott ND5 filter. Photo credits: Navid Bonakdar.
The “Lightstage” of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light was in the Erlangen city center today. We showed optics experiments to the public and I gave a short presentation about Plasmonics. Here are some impressions.
I gave a talk about our latest results with cryogenic super-resolved fluorescence microscopy on DNA at the Focus on Microscopy in Sydney, Australia.
For the Long Night of Science in Erlangen, I have prepared an experiment where light is being bend by propagating inside a gradient refractive index media. Here is the recipe: 1. Prepare saturated sugar solution: Dissolve 6 kg of sugar in 3 l of water => Will produce more than […]
